Death Penalty
In my opinion the death penalty serves a "just" way in dealing with some cases. I feel as though it can benefit society by getting rid of criminals and by decreasing crime rates among the community. The death penalty can only be used on some cases, it should not be used as a significant second option automatically compared to prison. It takes time to establish a fitting consequence to suit a specific case. Based on the death penalty packet we completed in class, 50% of Americans today support the death penalty. This statistic does surprise me in that I thought more people would support it. With only 14 states not having the death penalty we are able to see why and how this affects a state. For example New York. overall, i feel like the death penalty suits as a good alternative but only for some cases, depending on the facts of the case.
